Not as Dark When the Sun Sings

My sister and I hiked to Triple Falls yesterday in the Gorge — past Horsetail Falls. By the time we began our return hike, the sky had pulled on a darker cloak. The sun, however, was brilliant when we reemerged into the open. It blinded us as we drove westward to Portland. It threw the western skyline into a warm array of color.
